“I find myself too morally sound to continue in tech.”
I find myself too morally sound to continue in tech. I found tech to be incredibly misogynistic, with very few women in higher up positions and the ones who were took on masculine characteristics to fit in.
I’m disheartened by the whole experience in tech from working at startups, to the fake performance reviews and care to make a serious improvement to company culture, to being acquired and overworked the year before the acquisition as well as the year before the layoff, to looking for a new job. I’m qualified yet nothing has worked in my favor and it has severely hurt my mental health.
I’ve heard from friends about doing presentations in interviews that go unpaid, making it to final rounds without a custom rejection email, and the endless reposting of roles to “look good” for investors. Tech feels like a scam these days. What used to be a bright future and a great path has become corrupt and lackluster to me.
