“The job I do is now almost dead in Europe.”

The job I do is now almost dead in Europe. The only roles are in the US or once in a blue moon in EMEA. When they come up I’m usually in the final round, but then always beaten by someone else and when I look, they’re consistently already employed. That part hurts. And the feedback I get is that I’m excellent but either too senior, not enough tenure at one company (apparently you have to be somewhere for 7+years now) or I get ghosted. Last year my career and life were on track. Buying a house, getting married, building a life. Now I’m on life support, no chance of getting on the housing ladder and have nothing left to get me up in the morning.
